PRIVACY POLICY OF CUREBOUND  

This privacy policy (the “Privacy Policy”) will inform you of the privacy principles that govern this website. 

Curebound does not sell, rent or share names or other identifiable information about website users, participants, or donors (“Users”) to any other organization or entity.  

You may use www.curebound.org (our “Website”) without disclosing personally identifiable information – we will not obtain such information about you unless you submit it to us.  

Curebound uses your User information to respond to your needs and improve our service. We use the information you submit to register you for participation in a Curebound event, complete a transaction, and communicate to Users on event logistics and organization news. On occasion, we may share your name, email address, and progress towards fundraising with trusted Users within the organization (e.g. your team captain when you register for an event) for the purposes of sharing event communications and logistics relevant to your team. Credit card numbers, which are never shared, are used only for donation or payment processing and are not retained for other purposes.  

User records are considered confidential to our organization, unless otherwise agreed upon with the participant or donor, such as a User-generated request to provide information to an attorney, accountant, or other professional financial advisor.  

INFORMATION AUTOMATICALLY COLLECTED WHEN YOU VISIT OUR WEBSITE 

When visiting our Website, the following information are examples of the type of information that is automatically collected, stored and accessed via our Google Analytics account: 

  • The Internet Protocol (“IP”) address of the computer that accessed our website 

  • The type of browser, its version and the operating system on which that browser is running 

  • The web page requested by you 

  • The web page from which you accessed the current web page 

  • The date and time of your activity 

  • The pages that were visited and the amount of time spent on each page 

This information allows Curebound to monitor performance and improve functionality of our Website to improve the usage and performance of the Websites’ content and the User experience.  

We have not configured our Website to collect any personal information from your computer when browsing our Website. This means that, unless you voluntarily and knowingly provide Curebound with personal information, we will not know your name, your email address, or any other information identifiable to you. An IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer every time you browse the Internet. When users request a page from our site, our servers log the user’s current IP address. We use IP addresses to help diagnose problems.   

OTHER INFORMATION COLLECTED AND USE OF INFORMATION 

There are times when we ask for personal information from you. “Personal Information” is information that identifies you personally, such as your name, address, telephone number, and email address.   • When you use our Website to request information from Curebound or otherwise contact us in person, by phone or email, with a question. We may then collect your name, phone number and email address in order to respond to your inquiry. 

  • We may collect your name, email address and other contact information if you register for an event. 

  • We may collect your name, email address, telephone number and payment information when you make a contribution, either on our www.curebound.org website, over the phone, or by mailing in a check. 

The above list provides a sample of personal information that may be collected by Curebound. From time to time, we may collect personal information from you in ways not described above. 

USE AND DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION 

The email address you provide for registration or donations may be used to send you information and updates pertaining to your transaction, in addition to receiving occasional organization news, updates, related product or service information, etc. 

  • We will not sell, trade, or share your personal information, collected on the website or through any other business activities with anyone else. 

  • We will not send you mailings on behalf of other organizations. 

  • We will only share your personal information if you give us specific permission to do so. 

  • We will collect payment information, billing address and other information necessary to process a donation or event registration. 

  • We will use your information to comply with the law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to conform to the requirements of law or comply with legal process served on us, protect and defend our rights or act in urgent circumstances to protect the personal safety of others. 

  • We may on occasion use the name or likeness of participants, current or past, for marketing purposes, including on our Website and through our affiliated and verified social media accounts. You agree to this when registering to participate in an event with Curebound, including volunteers. You may revoke this permission at any time by submitting a request in writing to Curebound, 9605 Scranton Road, Suite 120, San Diego, CA 92121. 

We will use the personal information to protect against potential fraud. We may verify with third parties the information collected in the course of processing a gift, event registration or other donation. If you use a credit or debit card on the website, we may use card authorization and fraud screening services to verify that your card information and address matches the information that you supplied to us and that the card being used has not been reported lost or stolen. 

You have the right to review information that we have collected about you. Except as described in this Privacy Policy or at the time we request the information, we do not otherwise disclose your personal information to any third parties. Further, Curebound will not sell or trade your personally identifiable information to any third parties. 

SECURITY 

This Website has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under our control. The security measures used on this site include, but are not limited to, industry-standard Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology, firewalls, and internal policies to maintain the security of stored data. While we use SSL encryption to protect our sensitive information online, we also do everything in our power to protect user-information offline. Our software and hardware is configured to provide maximum security. The security of your personal information is important to us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. 

COOKIES 

A “cookie” is an element of data that can be sent to your browser. Your browser may then store it on your system based on the preferences you have set on your browser. Cookies gather information about your operating system including, but not limited to, browser type, and IP address. We use this information to analyze the traffic on our Website, and better serve you when you return to our Website. It is not our intention to use such information to personally identify a user. Further, you have the option to block all cookies. Please note, however, that if you refuse or otherwise block cookies you may not be able to take full advantage of the functionality available on our Website. 

OPT-OUT OF COMMUNICATIONS 

If at any time you would like to unsubscribe from receiving future emails, we include simple unsubscribe instructions at the bottom of each email. UPDATING OR CORRECTING PERSONAL DATA 

In compliance with the California Online Privacy Protection Act, all users of our Website may update and/or correct their User information at any time by logging into their profile or by mailing the required changes to Curebound directly. 

CHILDREN’S ONLINE PRIVACY PROTECTION ACT COMPLIANCE 

In compliance with the requirements of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, we do not market goods or services directly to anyone under 13 years of age. Personally identifiable information of children under 13 is only collected from such children with the consent of a parent or guardian when the parent or guardian registers the child for a Curebound event. Parents or guardians may update and/or correct the child’s User information at any time by logging into the child’s participant profile using the username and password selected at the time of the child’s registration or by mailing the required changes to Curebound directly. 

THIRD PARTY SERVICES AND LINKS 

We use other third parties services such as a web hosting company to host our Website on our behalf. These third-party services have separate and independent privacy policies. We therefore have no responsibility or liability for the content and activities of these linked sites. Nonetheless, we seek to protect the integrity of our Website and welcome any feedback about third party sites. These third parties are prohibited from collecting or using your personal information for their own promotional purposes.
