If you know the Johnson family, you know we’re a tight-knit bunch. When one of us is down, we all rally together. When Alexis was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, it became an all-hands-on-deck moment for our family. Wherever help was needed, we stepped in. Dom and Donna spent countless days at the hospital, Grandma Lou brought snacks to Yaya’s hospital room, Kelly jumped in to care for the kids, and Tessa and Maris balanced watching their sister endure the unimaginable while navigating their own childhoods.
Cancer is never easy, but the love and support from those around you make it bearable. Unfortunately, Alexis isn’t the only one in our family affected by this cruel disease. Debi and her mom Terrie are constantly vigilant in their fight against skin cancer. This year, even our cousins Jaclyn and Yaya had a scare, requiring surgical removal of concerning moles.
We’ve been through it before and it continues to happen. Through every diagnosis, one thing has remained constant: no one has had to face it alone.
We’re proud to have a community that shows up for each other. This year, our team is dedicated to uniting everyone who has battled cancer—whether from a hospital bed or from the sidelines. Our cancer fighters are our Hometown Heroes, and we believe no one should face this battle alone. Our goal is to expand our circle of support, reminding everyone that they are never alone in this journey. Heroes like Alexis are living proof of the strength and resilience within our community.
